Mark Hershberger has started an IdeaLab proposal for making Gerrit access easier for developers. Endorsements, feedback, and volunteers are wanted.

IdeaLab is an incubator for people to share ideas to improve Wikimedia projects and to collaboratively develop them into plans and grant proposals. The first step is to create an idea, expand it with information, and eventually turn it into an official Wikimedia grant proposal.

Mark's proposal aims to make using Wikimedia movement developer tools easier to approach. From his introduction, "Most developers outside Wikimedia use GitHub, but developers inside Wikimedia use Gerrit. There are worthwhile advantages to using Gerrit, but not all developers are familiar with it and so they use GitHub instead because it’s too much trouble to adopt a new workflow."

If you have feedback or would like to volunteer to help this project, visit the IdeaLabs entry and leave your input. Endorsements are also welcome.
