- MWStake Bylaw requirements (Charter & Annual Meeting)
- Bryan From our articles of incorporation (what we used to become a non-profit), our stated purpose is:
- "To contribute to the development of MediaWiki by fostering communication and coordination of MediaWiki developers, operators, and users, and other MediaWiki improvement efforts."
- A charter does the following:
- Identifies the purpose of the organization (see articles of incorporation above)
- Identifies the board of directors of the organization
- Identifies the the business location
- Markus We should remove those parts above (& Mission/Vision/Goals) from the bylaws and add them to a new page called Charter
- Also create a redirect from "Articles of Incorporation" to "Charter"
- Markus I propose the following for the Annual meeting:
- Have an Annual meeting in March
- Current Board is "transitionary"
- This year is the transitional year
- Moving forward, next year we can begin normal voting for Board Members
- Bryan From our articles of incorporation (what we used to become a non-profit), our stated purpose is:
- Membership & Corporate sponsorship
- Eric-Jan We have the plan in place, just need CC processing and we can begin
- Mark The CC should be working, we just need some test cases to make sure
- Bernhard Is it possible to donate?
- Mark It's possible technically, we just need to implement it
- Bryan Can we start showing the list of members & corporate sponsors on MWStake.org?
- Mark Maybe manual at first, but automate it in the future
- Bryan If I can get a list, I can create the page now
- MW Releases
- Cindy Previously this was done by Mark & Markus
- Now internal WMF people that do it now
- WMDE has a strategy plan of supporting 3rd party use of Wikibase. Wikibase is tied to releases of MW
- I feel MWStake should take over MW releases
- Some people at the WMF want to have control of some parts, but would like to see releases handled by someone else (possibly outside)
- Markus Possibly a reason why companies would sponsor MWStake
- But, we need to stay on track & might need to hire someone
- So maybe request a grant to start the process (get it off the ground)
- Mark Not a lot of manual work, Markus & I spent a lot of time automating & documenting the process
- Markus It's a very visible product though, not to be taken lightly
- Cindy Plugged MWStake to WMDE so Wikibase 3rd party users would be more involved with MWStake
