Meeting agenda

  1. Wait for attendees & chat 5 min

    • This conflicts with EMWCon2020, but we are eligible to send one person

Notes

  1. Meeting timing
    • Some confusion over the meeting timing.
    • (Georgios) UTC 15:30 (7:30am PST, 10:30am EST, 4:30pm CET) works best for Australian users.
    • The UTC time was keep standard but the US daylight saving time change caused low meeting turn-out. In the future, keeping the same time in the US seems preferred.
    • We need to work on a better communication method. Cindy, Rich, and Bryan to work together on improving communication.
  2. (Markus) Wikimedia Summit
    • Markus is planning on going as long as nobody else has any issue.
    • The Summit dates conflict with EMWCon 2020
      • Better for carbon footprint if someone from Europe attends the Summit
    • Markus requested inputs for agenda items he can bring to the Summit
    • (Gergo) I might be there in some capacity as well
  3. (Markus) MWStake Annual Reporting
    • We need to create a list of "things we did" in 2019 similar to previous years (2018):
    • As we formalize, we need to document our financing
  4. (Rich) EMWCon 2020
    • Yaron agreed to front the money
    • Contract with Kalahari Conference Center is being finalized and hopefully will be signed later today
    • Please wait for the conference code to be announced to get the conference rates
    • Who can help with taking on the role of a Chair? Cindy said her arm could be twisted.
  5. Brian Wolff is back at the WMF and discussed his new role and some security related topics
    • Content Security Policy (CSP) lets websites determine who they talk to
      • Prevents Cross-site Scripting
      • (Markus) How does the CSP support policy work?
        • (Brian) Typical usecase - Prevent Google Analytics, prevents inline Javascript, limits Cross-site Scripting
  6. PageFoms Discussion
    • Based on WikiJournals recent request for using PageForms from their Technical Wishlist
    • (Brian) Some things that would help get PageForms accepted by the WMF
      • Important to align with WMF's code policy
      • Adding Unit Tests
      • Get internal Champion
      • Could English Wikipedia add it to their Wishlist? They usually get what they ask for.
      • Refactoring some of the most complex parts
  7. (Gergo) Parsoid
    • Used to be Node.js, now rewritten in PHP
    • It's live now and seems to have decent performance benefits
  8. (Gergo) Global Templates
